El Forastero Mexican Food

Great little hidden gem. While traveling and trying to eat keto, my son and I stopped here for a quick breakfast. Definitely willing to work with me and still have a quality Mexican breakfast that is keto friendly. My son not so much keto friendly, but both were very, very good. Also looks like they cater or make it easy to pick-up a tray of carne asada or carnitas, and of course rice and beans too, if you can eat those.

So I'm from Sonoma county where I'm convinced the best California Mexican food is born. As a transplant to Sacramento I have a hard time finding a good place to get good tacos. I hate avocado on my tacos I feel like it kills the flavor and burn I expect from a good street taco; where all you have is the pure taste of tortilla and meat with its onions cilantro and salsa compliments all combine together to create an explosion of flavor in one bite. El Forastero delivers in amazing street tacos that are simple and filled to the brim with the perfect ratio of meat to cilantro and onions they have 4 different salsas to choose from and i live the darker hot one with a slightly smokey flavor that's rich depth goes amazingly well with there tacos. This has become my go to place for all my taco cravings!

The customer service is always excellent. They were one of the first restaurants to put up the huge glass partition between the customers and the food counter. The food is always delicious and for a better price than most Mexican restaurants. 4 stars because sometimes I'll find a hair in my food. It's happened twice, consecutive days, so I took a long break from this restaurant. Happy to say there was no hair this time around. The drinks are always yummy. I need to order the large next time. I drink the smalls really fast. This is my second go-to Mexican restaurant. I only have two. That says a lot. Nacho cheese and well-cooked and seasoned shrimp is a must. They have that here.
