We had dinner at the Downtowner last night. As usual, we were pleased with our food which is usually an excellent value for the money. My husband and I go to this restaurant frequently. After the pandemic we’ve had difficulties finding good customer service in general but we haven’t experienced this at the Downtowner. The restaurant staff here is consistently friendly and accommodating. The evening manager, Dan, always greets us with a smile and it’s apparent that he genuinely cares about our dining experience. We’ve had two birthday dinner events in the restaurant’s private dining room, each have included large dinners. Each time Dan has gone above and beyond to made sure the events have gone off without a hitch and helped us tailor the event down to the finest detail. The Downtowner is a breath of fresh air in this post-pandemic world.
The food was fantastic and the service was incredibly fast! Our server was very friendly and professional! Their omelets were delicious! They had a keyboard musician who played Gershwin, which made our brunch even more enjoyable!
Absolutely disappointed in more ways than one. Happened apon this place due to Swede Cafe being closed on a Tuesday. When we first walked in it smelt and looked inviting. Our first server was polite and quick to great us. Then all of a sudden we got a slow moving guy who took over and bashed our first waiters primary language. I was immediately put off. Then it was a series of not being attentive, not filling coffee and didn't ask about our food. Our hash browns were definitely burnt and when we mentioned it he didn't say a word. Then made us wait almost 15 min to get our check, after stating we were finished and ready for the check. I got to watch him sit back by the beverage counter drinking his coffee instead of doing his job. We will nit be back.
