Had high expectations and they were exceeded! In a part of DC known for both soul food and Ethiopian/Eritrean food, the marriage of the two at Doro is done brilliantly. The fried chicken was perfectly crispy and spicy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The char-grilled chicken was equally juicy and flavorful. All of the sides we tried - the collards, cornbread, and mashed potatoes - were addicting. Can’t wait to go back!
Fries was very good. Cornbread was the favorite. Fried chicken was better than broiled. Good coleslaw.
This is an interesting twist. It reminds me of a Southern chicken restaurant with an Ethiopian kick. I ordered hot fried chicken, collards, tumeric slaw and spicy mac and cheese. This would be a great way to introduce people to Ethiopian flavors. The fried chicken is delicious and I think you can order basic fried chicken too. There was a group after me and they all ordered the chicken sandwich, I have to try that next! No seating, carry out only.
