Celebrated our anniversary at B&J Bistro, absolutely the best French cuisine from chef Masato. Ask Stephen (the owner) for wine selection, you cannot go wrong with his advice. To add more of the effect of surprise to our reservation, I asked for five-course meal chef testing choice. It was amazing adventure and real pleasure to meet the chef in person and listen to his story for each dish he served. We are in love with this local unique place and will be back for more great food and service. By the way, their menu is very affordable, including drinks.
Ambience and service were definitely 4.5, the food however, was only a 3 star experience. The wine selection was somewhat sparse (mostly red blends, not much French), the polenta appetizer was absolutely delicious as was the fresh baked bread. Unfortunately the roasted vegetables and NY steak fell short of expectation, and the pom frites were terrible, limp and soggy obviously not fried in the freshest oil.
An excellent French Bistro. You can expect traditional French Bistro menu items at D&J Bistro in generous American portion size. We been here a few times and always leave happy and satisfying. Good selection of by the glass wine/cocktail menu and seasonal menu items. My husband and I ordered the escargot, steak frites and bouillabaisse this time and everything was delicious. We will be back when they start serving pan seared foie gras in the winter.
