I had my doubts. But this place has great food. To start we got the Calamari plate with shrimp and veggies. For main dishes, we got the Ziti with chicken and the Hot Salami, Coppa, Marinara, Diavolicchio pizza. The Tiramisu is to die for.
Listen, we went to Chestnut on a whim - a little recommendation for our weekend trip to SF. But oh my god I reached a new level of enlightenment here. We sat at the bar and wasn't only served by Tom, but blessed with his presence — A1 bartender and friendly guy who gave us the best SF reccos. The next night we just had to go back and wowza what a great espresso martini. I've been gluten free and dairy free for years now, but that pizza absolutely blew me out of the water. I don't know how they made it taste so good. If I ever find my way to SF again I'm hitting Delarosa as my first stop. Dietary restrictions: They had gluten free pizza and pasta, also offered vegan cheese and holy moly the best I've ever had.
It's a nice vibe and cute community seating, service is great, but...the food is not bad but it's not like amazing for Italian. However, I do LOVE the meatballs, highly recommend those as an appetizer. I also had the funghi pizza and added marinara sauce, and I also had ziti with chicken parm, but I'd say skip that one. It's not like any ziti I've ever had and the chicken was like old and stale. Def not as good as it sounds. For dessert I tried the donuts with 3 sauces, it was OK, the raspberry sauce was my favorite. I also tried my friend's tiramisu and it was OK too, more like chocolate pudding with tiramisu chunks.
