Must Try Dishes
At Coasterra in San Diego, a few must-try dishes include the Lobster Guacamole, which is enriched with Maine lobster and spiced up with jalapenos. Another delicacy is the Ceviche Trio that beautifully brings together shrimp, octopus, and fish in one dish. For an entrée, you can't go wrong with Heirloom Carrot Enchiladas or the Pescado a la Talla, perfectly grilled fish served on a banana leaf. For a sweet ending, the Pineapple Upside Down Cake with rum caramel sauce is heavenly.

The view and ambiance at this restaurant is top shelf. The service is pretty good, our waiter was not the friendliest we have had and had a bit of a dismissive style. My wife and I came with another couple and started with 4 margarita, which were amazing and are highly recommended, also a good portion size. We had two starters, first was the empanadas, which were not very good and I recommend you skip these. The tuna starter was large and delicious and I highly recommend. For the main, we ordered salmon, chicken, and scallops. The salmon came with a mole, which was the highlight, quinoa, and a picked zucchini. The salmon was over cooked, and a bit mushy. My wife’s scallops were large and very tasty, she recommends. My friend had bone-in chicken which was large portion, succulent, and delicious. Overall, I think I do recommend trying Coasterra, but there are opportunities for them to improve.
This place lived to the expectations. The food tastes very authentic, the drinks were very well balanced and the ambiance is exactly what you would expect from a beach city. I definitely recommend and can’t wait to try their dinner menu next time! If you are in San Diego, this is a must!
Coasterra is always an experience. The changing landscape of downtown as the sun sets a the night comes alive is one of the most amazing backdrops any restaurant could ask to have. Coasterra leverages that setting and builds on it. The service is ALWAYS exceptional and tonight was no exception. While all of the appetizers are well prepared and flavorful,my favorite is the Mussels and Clams in the most amazing broth I have ever had. Put the bread down and just give me a soup spoon. Tonight's entree was one of the lighter entrees and welcome so. The Rainbow Trout was one of the most moist and tender I have had lately.
