About

In the '60s and early '70s, El Paso was known for its abundance of Mexican restaurants. Some of the popular eateries in the area included El Portal, Casa O'Quinn's, Los Dos Lares and El Terrace. During this time, Mexican food was the dominant cuisine, with dishes like chiles rellenos, quesadillas and burritos being popular choices. It was not until the late '70s that American restaurants began to gain in popularity.
