Chuck's Fish Birmingham

This was actually the first restaurant we visited when we arrived in Birmingham and it was the perfect welcome to the area. The first thing that stood out to us was the staff. They were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. They were pretty busy the night we visited but even without reservations, and a larger group size, they were very helpful and able to seat us fairly quickly. The restaurant itself felt like a unique mix of fine dining but casual vibes that made you really feel at home. We went for dinner with our 4 children and even though it is a "more adult" restaurant, everyone had a great time. The staff was extremely friendly, menu was diverse enough that everyone found something they liked, and the atmosphere was very welcoming for families. A couple months later just my wife and I went back for a date night and it was just as good as the first time! We had a few cocktails, enjoyed the fish of the day, and shared some appetizers. Always our favorite restaurant to visit, absolutely never disappointed. Tried the sushi this time and it will make next time a really tough decision. Jeremy our waiter was quick and dedicated to the spirit of excellence. Drinks and food all came out in a timely manner. Props to the chef for such great flavor profiles. Who woulda guessed Brussel sprouts could be so good and my favorite dish. I’m always torn on what to order and every time I try something different which makes the next decision even tougher lol. My first visit to Chuck’s was this evening. I had heard nice reviews prior to this but unfortunately, my experience was basically a 2 or 3 star. My biggest concern was the poor service. I believe our staff person was in over her head and unable to handle the customers she had been given. The food was good but it took over 25 minutes for us to place our order and even then I had to track down another employee to help us. The atmosphere is pleasant and I was so looking forward to this dining occasion. I will give them another visit but am a bit apprehensive with my expectations.
