China Lui Restaurant

Ugh. Anyone who gives this place 5 stars clearly hasn't visited it in person. We went to this place to order food to go tonight (our first time). They have a menu displayed in their window. Under the vegetarian section, they have a variety of tofu dishes so before we ordered we asked some questions; what is the Ma Po Tofu and the General Tao tofu, spiciness, does it come with rice? etc. The woman working the counter looked at us as though we had 3 heads. She had to get another woman from the back to ask what Ma Po tofu is when it's on their menu. Clearly, no one orders tofu from here because both were so baffled. They couldn't find it in their system so they said they don't have any. We were going to order something else but noticed how gross and dirty the place looked overall. My husband stopped us from ordering and suggested we leave. He then pointed down to show me a HUGE dead insect lying on its back (we don't know if it's a cockroach) right at the entrance. Could be my new Chinese food place. Just happen to see it driving through the parking lot, just a little hole in the wall but often those are the best so gave it a chance. Reviews were also good. Reviews were right. I had vegetable fried rice, pretty sure they were all fresh and not frozen. I eat a lot of fried rice and the rice, everything in it was good. Friend had a shrimp dish and also said it was good. Also had pork egg rolls which were good. Both were good size dishes. Not sure if there is seating inside, pretty small. I ordered online and picked up, would have done delivery but outside their range. Employee was nice when I picked up. Website is decent and works well. Definitely will be giving them another try, have not found many good Chinese places around.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in fort lauderdale. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal.
