Casa Don Gallo

This place was a favorite a time ago. Not sure if still the same owners or not but things are slipping. Mind you it was a Friday night at a little after 7pm when we got seated in a both at the bar. The seats of the booth looked like a rogue DEA agent used his pocket knife to search the cushion for narcotics. The server who sat us, yes server not host, spent 90% of our stay talking to an adjacent both, maybe running one order out. Our server was working all the bar tables by herself and you could tell she was frustrated by her counterpart, but she did a great job despite this. The food arrived surprisingly quick. Unfortunately we could tell why. My wife's tacos, by my guess, had been made probably an hour earlier and just thrown on a hot plate with fresh rice and beans. There was enough grease in them, fortunately, to do a great 50s slick back hair do. My wife ate one and promptly asked where the restroom was. My Guadalajara enchiladas were interesting. This was our first time here. We had dinner on a Friday night. It was busy but we were seated quickly. Both of our meals were excellent. The service was great. We had just enough time to enjoy our drinks and chips before the food arrived. I would give them 5 stars except for the noise level. It was pretty loud.

Three stars because of the atmosphere. We ordered jumbo house margaritas on happy hour, 22 oz for $6.50 good deal but they tasted like limeade and water. Couldn’t not taste the tequila at all. Ordered the veggie enchiladas and was really disappointed that the veggies were way under cooked, had no flavor and the tortillas felt like they had been boiled. Friend had the veggie quesadilla and had the same experience. Service was good and friendly but good and drink was very underwhelming. Oh chips were great, thin and crispy!
