Casa Del Barco - Canal Walk

Went here last night for my Birthday (Taco Tuesday). The place itself has a nice aesthetic to it. The drinks in my opinion are a little over priced for the size however they are not using a mix which makes the drinks stronger(my opinion). Food was amazing. I had the steak fajitas and my friend had the barbacoa taco plate. Rice was severely over cooked. Black beans were good and the avocado was fresh. Chips and cheese with chorizo was outstanding. They have a self order style menu. You can place your order and add things without waiting for a server if you’d like so that was nice. There is a 20% service fee automatically added to any bill ( party size does not matter) but this was explained by the host as soon as a we sat down so it wasn’t a surprise. They even have me a birthday card when I was leaving. Only took away one star just due to the overpriced drinks. Definitely will return again.

Nothing spectacular. Food was okay. I have had better tacos elsewhere. I only saw my waiter twice the whole time we were there. Keep in mind that this restaurant has 20% mandatory service charge. The service we received was not worth the 20% tip. I wouldn’t go back again.

So the food looked amazing and the presentation was great. The online ordering makes things super easy when it comes to pay and everything. However, the fish lacked a lot of flavor and was pretty bland overall. The rice and beans didn't taste very good also very bland. That's the not the worst part. I went with a group of 7 and all of us who all got different things ended up getting sick. Either the food wasn't prepared well or someone didn't clean properly. We got fish, beef,pork and all of us ended up getting sick. What a terrible experience this was. We may have unfortunately been one in a million chance but that fact that ALL of us got sick really says something about the chefs or the restaurants. Unfortunately don't think we'd be coming back to this place.
