Canteen Restaurant

This is a perfect spot for breakfast. Located in downtown Barrington, Canteen restaurant is the place to go for delicious briskets all day long. The food and service here is a 10/10. We tried the avocado toast with brisket & the smoked brisket with eggs. The brisket was absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and I loved the smoky flavor. The Greek frappe iced coffee that was recommended by the host was amazing. I could have had two of those. The wait staff is so friendly and the restaurant has such good vibes. We were there for 2+hours and the staff checked on us often. I need to go back there asap and try other things on their menu

Based upon their reviews and their long history we were looking forward to trying this local legend. We were very disappointed. The soup was too lemony. The mac and cheese was straight up aweful, it tasted like the milk had soured. The brisket was good and the ribs tasty but not nearly "the best outside of texas". There are much better ribs locally. The fries do get a full star of their own; hot , tasty, with a bit of skin fried in. There was a french toast with ham and eggs that sounded interesting but the flavors didn't come together. Over all? Skip it but if you are meeting friends that's fine.

Always trying to find “burnt ends” so we were excited to see your sign. They were super delicious. Thank you! Fun atmosphere!
