This was our first visit in over ten years and we really enjoyed it. My hamburger was a little overdone, the cheese enchiladas were a little spicier than expected but chips and salsa were great. Service - poor 2 stars Food - average - 3 stars Restoration - 5 stars Started going to this restaurant in 1976. Have not been in awhile. Candlelite has been nicely restored by the current owners. Excellent job on keeping the original atmosphere. We walked in, just 2 guys, no one else in the lobby. Asked for a booth. Restaurant was about 2/3 full. Hostess tried to sit us at a 6 top table, we said no, we would like a booth, she tried to sit us at 4 top. we said no we want a booth and pointed to one that was empty, just waiting to be cleaned. She left and went back to the hostess stand. That was the last we saw of her. Busboy came and cleaned the table. We sat down and waited and waited and waited. We had no menu or silverware. Finally a nice waitress came and asked if we had a drink order, realized this was the bar waitress. Another waitress showed up and asked for our order. We let her know we had no menu's. Vintage charm, amazing service, & great food! Our server was Skittles, she was awesome with recommendations & hospitality. This place belongs in the kind of movie that makes you nostalgic for summer family road trips.
