Happy Birthday to Me! Bourbon Street Cafe was my favorite restaurant in the 90s, but it closed down around 20 years ago. It reopened 3 weeks ago, just in time for my birthday. I was so excited when I heard. Dinner was a Tuesday at 6:00 PM, my wife and me. There was no waiting, but I had made a reservation through Resy last week. Our waiter was Kale. Friendly and efficient. Attentive but not intrusive. We started with oysters on the half shell. They were sweet, chilled perfectly, and worth every penny of the 2.00 each. Served with a lemon wedge, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. I will definitely get these again. My wife ordered Satchmo's: Blackened Salmon topped with a rich Lump Crab Beurre Blanc Sauce, served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes $29. She enjoyed it very much. I tried it, too. It was well seasoned, salmon cooked a perfect texture. The beurre blanc was velvety and buttery and complimented the sweetness of the crab. The food and live music was good! I wish they made a better sazerac (it really shouldn't have ice, my husband was sad that it was so bad and I keep hearing about it haha) but it's ok! Really great meal. Everyone cleaned their plates. I ordered The Pryor and my steak was cooked perfectly.
