Must Try Dishes
At the Barrio Cafe in Phoenix, Arizona, one should definitely try their signature dish, the Cochinita Pibil, a slow-roasted pork dish that is marinated in acidic citrus juice and seasoned with annatto seeds. The Chiles en Nogada, a seasonal dish consisting of a poblano pepper stuffed with a mixture of meat and dried fruit, topped with a walnut-based cream sauce, is also a must-try. Don't forget to sample the Enchiladas Del Mar, where shrimp, scallops, and the catch of the day will melt in your mouth. Round out the meal with the Churro Rellenos for a sweet ending.

I have waited for years to come here! I really missed out by not coming decades ago! The churros and ice cream OMG! When I took my first bite of the churro with chocolate and caramel and vanilla ice cream on it It brought me back to when I was 5 years old and I went to the fair with my family and I had my first treat that caused my mind to just drift away in a dreamlike fantasy of pleasure... I felt that I should have been embarrassed by having such pleasure in public.
Barrio was suggested to me for lunch by an employee at a shop I was wandering through. I will always want tacos, so this was a no brainer for me. My waiter was great, super attentive, and complimented my hair, which was very nice. The taco I got was a lil spicy, but this is coming from a total whimp, so don’t judge me. The flavors were great and I enjoyed the presentation. My only complaint would be the price point. I didn’t eat all of it, but it would’ve been more portable if it were three tacos vs one giant taco. ANYWAY, it’s worth a visit and in a good location if you enjoy thrift shops.
Delicious happy hour and very reasonable prices and good vibes. House margarita was good, seemed like freshly made juice and a quality tequila, which you could actually taste. The pomegranate guac was delicious. We asado tacos had a great flavor and nice char to them. The cochinita was amazing - very savory and great depth of flavor. Nice outdoor patio to enjoy the spring weather. Parking: Easy parking with 10+ spaces
