Banyan Bar + Refuge

My wife and I had a date night here. I enjoyed the wildfire and my wife thought the frosé was delicious. My favourite dish was the pork belly bao but the empanada was quite nice also. The smashed cucumber had a nice bit of heat. There is an outdoor area but we appreciated the indoor seating below the wonderful floral decor.

This place is beautiful with great food and a super sweet host. Came here for the first time last night. The wait was 45 minutes but we were seated within a half hour. We ordered the wildfire for our drinks(so good) the chicken buns, bok chocolate, short ribs and sticky chicken. EVERYTHING was so good. Only thing I didn't like was all the food had that sweet kick. It was still good but I wanted a strictly savory dish out of them all. I would definitely go back!

This place is properly rated on Google. 4.3 sounds right if not generous! The ambiance of the restaurant is great, and the service was really good for the most part. However, the food was not consistent. The pork tacos had a weird taste (too “meaty” and not in the good way), the pork ribs were great (the best part of the entire meal), the avocado bao were also quite good, but the cabbage chicken wraps were so spicy it was impossible to finish them (and we usually tolerate spicy!). Not sure we’ll be back.
