Avila's El Ranchito - San Clemente

Management is rude to guest. Food is good, service is great. Hostess, Bartenders, Servers, busboy they are all very helpful and polite. The older shorter manager is odd to guest, not polite. there is a younger taller manger with tattoos up and down his arm. These two are either not from hospitality industry or just hostile towards guest. Weird situation. Not comfortable going there anymore. I thought it was just an odd event for us but other friends that live in San Clemente have shared the same opinion.

Really surprised at the overall rating. Not great Mexican food at all. Everything was very very bland, practically flavorless. Zero hint of any spices used. The shredded beef and chicken was extremely dry and everything was so overpriced, especially for the quality. We have this place two tries and won’t be back.

I've been multiple Avila's location. This is become a must stop when I visiting from Washington! I love how the staff does an amazing job embracing you and making you feel like your family or friends. Even though it's often my first time visiting one of their locations. This is real authentic Mexican food. Their food is always extremely consistent. I always make it a point to find a location when I am in the area. The Avila’s famous caldo is worth it! I always enjoy the crispy tacos. But you can never got wrong with the streak and prawns. Parking for this location can be a bit tricky. As there is so much going on in the downtown San Clemente area.
