For the prices here, I would expect both the service and food presentation to be taken up a notch. Some staff members were friendly and accommodating and others would disappear and ignore our table. The food tasted good, but the presentation left something to be desired, as the salad was dressed sparingly and sort of plopped onto the greens, and the $9 “herbed fries” arrived with no herbs. Eat here with the expectation that the service will be mediocre and you’re paying for the excellent location.
We have loved eating at Americana since it opened years ago. We were sorry to hear it was sold shortly before our most recent visit. We are happy for Randy, though. He built a Del Mar institution. Great place for brunch, we went after a 2.5 hour hike at Torrey Pines and had a good time! Make sure to look at the daily specials on a chalkboard..
